Valérie

Group Purchasing Manager, Packagings & Operational Excellence

How did you evolve within Cromology?

Chemical engineering graduate, I was hired as Project Manager in 2008 to set up the tinting system in all the Group’s countries. The tinting system is used to accurately produce all the shades registered in our color database for our clients.
In 2012, I was appointed France Purchasing Manager in charge of Raw Materials and Packagings. In 2016, my management offered me the position of Group Packagings Manager and, in 2022, I was appointed Purchasing Operational Excellence Manager also.

My role in Purchasing is to define the strategy to be deployed: optimizing costs, technical performance, production lead-times… Everything is scrutinized with our suppliers. Packaging meets both internal and external specifications. It must be adapted to both the employee in the supply chain and the end user, our client, whether a professional painter or a private individual.
In my “Operational Excellence” role, I oversee that purchasing regulations are applied in our group processes: consolidating data, monitoring sourcing actions to ensure both business continuity, simplifying the raw materials purchasing process, and packagings compliance.
Whatever the assignment, the satisfaction of our internal and external clients is at the heart of my job.

What do you like in your job?

What I like is the versatility of my job: I work with almost every department in the group.
I’m in touch internally, with our production and logistics sites, marketing, data management, R&D and accounting, and externally, with our suppliers, both to negotiate and to provide the level of service expected by Cromology. All these interactions are very enriching.
I also enjoy my job because it requires a “Think global, act local” vision to lead the diversity of projects, both transnational and local, in which I’m involved.
I also like the technical and creative side of my job. Packaging is specific to a brand, it has its own “universe”, it is part of the product’s identity.
